From Bedmi-Aloo To Lassi, Rajat Kapoor Shares His Favourite Delhi Street Food

Two hardcore Delhiites met in the olden lanes of Chandni Chowk to gorge on drool-worthy food at iconic eateries. Actor and filmmaker Rajat Kapoor joined our anchor, Tonakshi Kalra, for this epic food exploration on this episode of Tere Gully Mein. The veteran actor is best known for his remarkable roles in films like ‘Kapoor & Sons’, ‘Bheja Fry’, ‘Drishyam’ and more. While strolling the cramped lanes of Chandni Chowk, we learnt about Rajat’s favourite street food in Delhi.

These Are Rajat Kapoor’s Favourite Street Food In Delhi

Rajat Kapoor spent a significant amount of his childhood in Delhi, where he resided in Daryaganj, Old Delhi. He is indeed a hardcore Delhiite who frequented Paranthe Wali Gali for freshly made halwa, mathri, stuffed parathe and more such tasty dishes. The goal for this episode was to devour the best food with the actor and make him reminisce about his good old childhood days. And that’s exactly what we did!

We took the actor to Pt. Kanhaiya Lal Durga Prashad Dixit Paranthe Wale for some amazing stuffed paranthe. While waiting for our order, Rajat reflected on the filming of ‘Ankhon Dekhi’ in the lanes of Chandni Chowk. He has some of the fondest memories of shooting near his childhood home some 12 years ago. Everyone on the set gorged on bedmi aloo, lassi and stuffed paranthe, some of his favourite street food in Delhi. This episode was indeed filled with nostalgic conversations and scrumptious Delhi food!

After raving so much about the love for Delhi food, Rajat Kapoor disclosed that Mumbai has his heart! What surprised us more was the revelation that the national capital doesn’t evoke the emotions of home sweet home any more. It is the City of Dreams that accepted him with open arms and where he is truly at peace.

While gorging on freshly made kachori and aloo, he commented, “Delhi doesn’t feel like home anymore. But I have great nostalgia for this city.” The ‘Scam 1992’ actor’s tastebuds might have the urge to relish Delhi food day and night but Mumbai is where he finds calm. Mumbai has that magic on you and true Mumbaikars would 100% agree on this!
