The one thing Indians miss the most about India is undoubtedly desi khaana. Whether you’re on an international trip or settled abroad, you’d truly miss gorging on comforting and authentic Indian food. Yes, there are plenty of Indian restaurants but most end up serving the same staples of Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala. To treat their Indian employees, a Dutch company set up a platter of Indian food and no, it’s far away from what you’d expect it to be.

Indian Employees Were Treated To Desi Food By Dutch Company

Anuvind Kanwal, an Indian employee living in the Netherlands took to his Instagram handle to give his followers a glimpse of the Indian food served by his company. Kanwal filmed a video of the “questionable” dishes that were served at his company. The video shows chafing dishes filled with something called “Bell Pepper Dal” and “Padima Chutney”. Also, there are miniature-sized naan and green peans.

While, padima chutney, we presume, is nothing but pudina or mint chutney, the information card reveals it contains celery. In his caption, Kanwal wrote that the “Indian food” served at his office in the Netherlands seemed a bit “questionable”. This reel has garnered over one million views on Instagram as it left desis shocked.

Netizens Were Horrified To See The Food

Many praised the man’s company for at least attempting to cater to the palates of its Indian employees. “At least they’re making an effort,” commented an Instagrammer. Another wanted to know what “Padima Chutney” was made of. Others wondered if any research ever went into preparing these dishes. Many cracked jokes on the bite-sized naans that almost looked like mini pita breads. “Naan delivered cute babies,” commented a Netizen. To this, Kanwal joked that if the baby naans had a babysitter, it would be called a “nanny”.
