From Cosmetics To Home-Cooked Meals, Here’s What’s Not Allowed At DXB Airport Any More!

If you thought airport security at Dubai International Airport (DXB) was already tight, 2025 just turned it up a notch. Authorities have rolled out a fresh list of banned and restricted items that might just make you rethink how you pack your hand luggage and your snacks.

Here’s What Not To Pack If You Want A Smooth Take-Off At DXB Airport

What’s Banned Now?

Let’s get straight to it. Dubai has officially updated its airport security regulations for 2025. This time, the list dives into everything from beauty essentials to high-powered tech and yes, even your lunch.

Here’s what’s newly banned or restricted:

  • Cosmetic aerosols like hairspray, deodorants, and perfume sprays are now under tighter restrictions. If it’s flammable or pressurised, it’s best left behind.
  • Sharp grooming tools such as razors, nail scissors, and tweezers will be confiscated at security.
  • Lithium battery-powered devices including phones, laptops, and power banks are being examined. Carry them in your hand luggage, not your checked bags. If packed below, they must be switched off and safely secured.
  • Hoverboards, e-scooters, and mini segways? Not even as souvenirs.
  • Home-cooked meals yes, the rule actually states this, are banned from all luggage. Sorry!
  • Culturally sensitive materials that go against Islamic values are strictly prohibited. If you wouldn’t show it to a customs officer, don’t bring it.

Medicines, Batteries And Other Things

Dubai authorities aren’t messing around when it comes to meds either. Got prescriptions? Carry them.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • All medications must be accompanied by a valid prescription.
  • Some may even require pre-approval from UAE health authorities.
  • Not sure about your pills? Declare them before someone else discovers them for you.

Battery rules are getting stricter, too. You can carry spare lithium batteries, but only in your cabin bag. Got a device with a battery in your checked-in suitcase? Switch it off and protect it.

Check Before You Pack

Look, no one wants to be that person unpacking their suitcase at the security belt while holding up the queue and sweating. So here’s a pro tip: check your airline and Dubai Customs websites before you even think about packing.

When in doubt, declare it. That one bottle of spray, mystery charger, or suspiciously wrapped food item could cost you your flight.

Remember, these rules are for safety of everyone. And a smooth trip starts with knowing what not to bring. So ditch the aerosols, leave the leftovers, and travel like a pro.
