With January 26 falling on Friday this year, this gives you the perfect chance to enjoy a 3-day long weekend and spend days travelling with your loved ones. From getaways to properly planned holidays, travel trends to different destinations are surging ahead of the upcoming extended long weekend.

Here’s Where Tourists Wish To Travel During Republic Day Long Weekend

Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head of Thomas Cook (India) Limited, stated how the travel company is reporting a demand of more than 25 per cent YoY for domestic destinations. To enjoy the much-needed long weekend, most travellers wish to enjoy some time in serenity by exploring famous destinations. Some of the Indian touristy places that are seeing the demands are Andamans, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Kerala, North East, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

Apart from travelling to famous destinations, there is also a trend to enjoy something unique. Visitors are choosing combinations of experiences to enjoy the long weekend such as visiting the Golden Temple, enjoying local authentic cuisines, and opting for a farmhouse as the stay option.

Daniel D’Souza, President & Country Head – Holidays of SOTC Travel, shared how the company is noticing a rise of demand by 25-30 per cent in comparison to 2023. India’s famous hill stations such as Nainital, Auli, Tawang, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Ooty, Kodaikanal, and more continue to be the preferences of travellers.

There is also a demand to travel to beach destinations such as Adamans and Goa. Spiritual tourism continues to witness an uptick with Ayodhya leading the list of religious places. Puri, Amritsar, Dwarka, Kashi, Madurai, and Tirupati are also witnessing an increase in travellers’ interests.

Travellers Wish To Explore Internationally Too

Daniel D’Souza shared how data is showing a surge in travellers’ interest in exploring foreign destinations that are close to India. According to data shared by Thomas Cook’s trends, destinations witnessing the demand are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Ras Al Khaimah, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Rajeev Kale shared some updates about travel enthusiasts showing interest in going overseas this long weekend. Some international destinations that are in demand are Abu Dhabi, Cambodia, Dubai, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
