The monsoon season has started and several places are experiencing heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for certain Indian states. According to weather forecasts, an orange alert symbolises heavy rainfall that can be a threat to life and property. Here is the list of states where IMD has issued an orange alert.

The weather forecast department of India has issued an orange alert for these places.

1. Kerala

In many districts of Kerala, IMD has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for the upcoming days. In the days to come, it is anticipated that Kozhikode, Kannur, and Ernakulam districts may see severe rains.

2. Maharashtra

Six districts in Maharashtra, including Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and Satara, have received orange alerts from IMD due to the impending heavy to very severe rains. As for Mumbai and Thane, IMD has issued a green alert and there is a possibility of light rainfall. The weather bureau issued a yellow notice for the districts of Palghar and Raigad, which are adjacent to the city and could experience isolated pockets of severe rainfall.

3. West Bengal

Parts of Northern Bengal are expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over the next five days. Additionally, IMD has issued an orange notice for several regions that are anticipated to see the worst of the impending bad weather.

4. Karnataka

Due to the expected high rainfall in the state during the next week, IMD has issued an orange signal for coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

According to weather reports, 18 districts of Odisha have been issued a yellow alert. They also warned about the possibility of thunderstorms at certain places in the state.

Apart from this, in numerous areas of Tamil Nadu, mild to moderate rainfall is anticipated over the next 4 days. Due to a gyre zonal circulation over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and the fluctuating speed of the westerly wind, Tamil Nadu may expect mild to moderate rainfall in several locations during the next few days.
