From Leaving A Meditation Course Midway To Becoming A Spiritual Mentor, BK Shivani Shares Her Journey With The Brahma Kumaris

On Curly Tales’s new episode of Stories from Bharat, our Editor-in-Chief had the absolute pleasure of speaking to Sister BK Shivani, a spiritual mentor and motivational speaker at the serene Brahma Kumaris Headquarters in Mount Abu. During the conversation, BK Shivani revealed how she started her spiritual journey with Brahma Kumaris.

Sister BK Shivani Narrates Her Spiritual Journey To Kamiya Jani

While speaking to Kamiya, Sister BK Shivani revealed she was a rebellious child who didn’t like being told what to do. The spiritual mentor lived in Pune with her family. She did her engineering at Pune University and started working there. Her mother started visiting the Brahma Kumaris Centre. With time, her mother started meditating and started cooking vegetarian food (without onion and garlic) for the family.

Inspired by the spiritual teachings, her mother wanted BK Shivani to experiment with it too. Despite her mother asking her to tag along to the centre many times, she wasn’t interested. BK Shivani didn’t find the need to wake up early in the morning to visit the spiritual centre. So, she resisted for a year.

Eventually, Sister BK Shivani accompanied her mother to drop her off at the centre. She found the place peaceful and felt the sisters were like her family. Later, she even pursued a 7-day meditation course at the Brahma Kumaris Centre. But she left the course midway as she wanted a scientific explanation for the spiritual practices.

Her Mother Played An Important Role In Her Spiritual Growth

While BK Shivani didn’t want anything to do with the Brahma Kumaris as a young adult, her mother continued her spiritual journey. Her mother’s good energies rubbed off on the family. And one day, out of nowhere, BK Shivani told her mother she wanted to restart the spiritual course. To date, BK Shivani believes it was the “influence of vibrations” that made her change her mind.

“Sometimes if you are hard, somebody’s vibrations soften you. Vibrations work on your logical side as it opens your intuition,” says the spiritual mentor. During her second innings at the Brahma Kumaris centres, she enjoyed the course. And that was the beginning of her spiritual journey.
