Dhul Hijjah Crescent Sighted
From the UAE to Saudi Arabia, the moon sighting committee sighted the crescent. This means the first day of Hijjah has begun from today, which is on May 28, Wednesday. As a result, countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia will mark Eid al-Adha on June 6, which is a Friday. Moreover, the Day of Arafah, which is observed on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, will be celebrated on June 5, Thursday.
Countries Declare Holiday For The Holiday
Coming to the holidays, UAE residents will get a four-day holiday this year. Public holidays will begin on the Day four Arafah and then will be followed by three days of leave for Eid al-Adha. This development comes at a time when it’s pertinent to mention that this Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle. Yes, unlike the Gregorian calendar, it is based on the moon sighting that Islamic holidays are declared and determined.

Dates For Eid al-Adha Declared
Similarly, countries like Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain also declared Eid al-Adha. This announcement was made by the Saudi Supreme Court after the crescent moon had been sighted across several regions in the kingdom.
