From Open-Air Cinema To Desert Nights, Qatar Has Lit Up With A Range Of Outdoor Winter Events

When winter arrives in Qatar, the country slows down and steps outside to enjoy and get entertained. This Winter season is a packed calendar of outdoor, cultural, and family-friendly events across Qatar. To bring in the celebrations, Qatar is transforming into a giant open-air playground. From cinema nights in the heart of Doha to lantern-lit walks and deep-desert escapes, there’s something to pull people out of their homes almost every evening.

Winter In Qatar Has Officially Gone Outdoors

Movies Under the Stars At Msheireb

At Msheireb Downtown Doha, the Baraha Cinema continues to attract crowds with its one-of-a-kind alfresco setup. Known as the Taste Cinema Experience, it converts the square into a premium outdoor theatre.

Each screening comes with interactive elements and themed meals served on movie-inspired plates. Opened on December 24, the cinema runs until January 3, 2026. So, bring your families or groups of friends to chill and catch up on movies and food.

A Living Celebration Of Qatari Heritage

For something rooted in tradition, the Qatari Heritage Festival at Ain Mohammad Heritage Village takes centre stage. Running until December 29 and then on weekends through February 14, 2026, the festival celebrates Bedouin life and Qatari customs. Expect traditional culinary affairs, including wood fires. For activities, expect camel caretaking demonstrations, falconry shows, storytelling sessions, and folk performances. According to Visit Qatar, the festival focuses on authenticity.

Children will be entertained through games and workshops, while adults can linger at artisan markets and heritage zones.

Lanterns Light Up Al Bidda Park

One of the season’s biggest visual highlights will take place at Al Bidda Park. The Lantern Festival features more than 400 illuminated lanterns spread across a 55,000-square-metre area. Organised by Safe Flight Solutions, the festival blends light installations with cultural performances and interactive displays.

This festive event will run till March 28, 2026, giving visitors plenty of time to wander, photograph, and soak in the atmosphere.

Visit Qatar’s Brouq events, which run until January 17, 2026, offering a desert retreat near Our Habitas Ras Abrouq. Located beside the Unesco-protected Al-Reem Biosphere Reserve, the experience blends dining, culture, and glamping.

Guests can visit Film City and join workshops by Al-Hosh Gallery. The venue will host live performances, and guests can stay overnight in fully equipped tents overlooking the sea.

Qatar’s winter events highlight cultural roots, desert silence and experiences that are social, deeply engaging and entertaining.
