Himachal Pradesh Make Artificial Lakes, Sightseeing Spots To Attract Tourists

As per a report by Hindustan Times, the Himachal Pradesh government will soon transform its artificial lakes into gorgeous tourist destinations. Tourists can expect thrilling water activities like bird watching, angling which is a fishing technique and even eco-tourism. The Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made this announcement recently.

In a statement, he stated that the state government is formulating the rules for the same. The telos is to prolong the stay of tourists in Himachal Pradesh by offering them an array of memorable experiences. Water-based attractions like yachts. cruises, watersports in reservoirs and relaxing houseboat experiences will be curated for tourists.

Tourists can expect a flurry of water activities at Himachal Pradesh’s artificial lakes. These water bodies are Kullu’s Larji Reservoir, Kangra’s Pong dam, Bilaspur’s Bhakra reservoir and Kol dam, Chamba’s Chamera dam and Tattapani near Shimla. To promote adventure tourism activities, the government has allocated 70 crore to Kangra district’s Pong Dam.

Aim To Welcome 5 Crore Tourists By Next 5 Years

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu further added that a piece of land spanning 5.75 hectares near Kangra will be transformed into an artificial lake housing world-class fountains. Himachal Pradesh aims to attract 5 crore tourists in the next four to five years. With the intent to boost employment and self-employment avenues for its young population.
