In a move aimed at keeping the community safe and inclusive, the UAE has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards hate speech. The Public Prosecution has made it clear that anyone found guilty of spreading hate, whether online or offline, will face hefty fines and even jail time. Under the UAE’s Article 7 decree, those engaging in any form of hate speech could be slapped with a fine of up to Dh 1 million, along with a one-year jail sentence.
