94.1% Of Experts Say Street Food Was The Biggest Attraction During Indian Vacations
The Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 is out curated by Godrej Vikhroli Cucina after gathering insights from 190 food experts (renowned chefs, food bloggers, nutritionists and travel professionals). Together, they have identified the top culinary experiences that shaped Indian vacations in 2024. They noticed a growing demand for food-focused journeys that proves culinary tourism will continue to thrive.
Interestingly, a 25% surge in vacation spending was noticed whereby a significant portion of the budget was utilised on culinary experiences. With food-focused tours, restaurant-hopping, visits to iconic restaurants taking centre stage. Let’s look at some of the top culinary travel trends of 2024 as per the Godrej Food Trends Report 2024.
Firstly, 94.1% of experts identified street food and market tours as the biggest vacation attraction for Indians in 2024. Tours to buzzing food streets and vibrant spice markets offer travellers an authentic taste of India’s culinary diversity. The second biggest attractions during Indian vacations are culinary site tours with 92.3% experts voting for the same. This includes trips to tea and coffee estates, chocolate factories, artisanal cheese-making hubs and more. It helps tourists learn about food production.
Culinary Tourism Encompasses Street Food, Home Dining Experiences & More
The third biggest travel attraction in 2024 is home dining experiences and interactions with local experts. About 87.5% experts observed the growing trend of booking home dining experiences. These experiences helped travellers delve deep into local food cultures, have intimate conversations with regional and community experts and learn about different cooking techniques as well. Excursions to local markets to shop for fresh produce added to the experience.
