From Thailand To Iran, These Countries Became Visa-Free For Indians In 2023. Plan Your 2024 Vacay!

We are so close to celebrating the last day of 2023. The year is passing by so fast and we cannot wait to welcome 2024 and see what the new year has in store for us. Among all the surprises and fascinating experiences, we are eagerly waiting to travel more than ever in the new year. 2024 surely looks like a great year for Indian travellers as so many countries are going visa-free for visitors from India. Here are the foreign nations that have gone visa-free in 2023. The list also includes some that will become visa-exempt in the next year.

Visa-Free Countries For Indian Tourists

1. Iran

To boost Iran’s travel and tourism industry and welcome more travellers, the Iranian government scrapped the mandate requirement of presenting a visa for Indian visitors and 32 other countries from different parts of the world.

2. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is one of the first foreign countries to allow visitors from India to visit the country without a visa. The rule is going to be effective till March 31, 2024. Till March 2024, there is no need to wait in long lines to get your visa to fly to Sri Lanka. So wait no more and plan your 2024 holidays already.

3. Malaysia

Starting from December 1, 2023, Malaysia is letting Indian nationals enter visa-free. Malaysia made the announcement back in November. With this commencement, Indian travellers can stay in this foreign nation for a maximum of 30 days without carrying a visa. The rule is going to be in action till the last day of the next year, December 31, 2024.

4. Thailand

Thailand has always been a favourite travel destination for Indian nationals and traveling to this tropical nation has never been this easier. Indian travellers can now enter Thailand without a visa. The temporary scarping off the visa requirement started on November 10, 2023, and will continue till May 10, 2024. These tourists can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days.

5. Kenya

Effective from the first day of 2024, Kenya will become a visa-free country. From January 1, 2024, there will be no need to present a visa to enter and explore Kenya. Travellers will only need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to be eligible to explore this African country.

6. Vietnam

Vietnam might become the next international country to allow Indian nationals to enter and travel visa-free. Nguyen Van Hung, the Vietnamese Minister for Culture, Sports, and Tourism proposed a visa waiver for travellers from India and China. Remember that it is a temporary waiver and it is a step taken to attract more foreign visitors. As of now, tourists from Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden can travel to Vietnam without a visa.

7. Indonesia

Indonesia might just be the next international country to offer Indian travellers to enter visa-free. There is no confirmed news about the country letting tourists from India explore without a visa but there are chances for this becoming a reality. The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has proposed allowing visa-free entry to a total of 20 countries and India is one of them. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Indonesia Tourism minister shared the primary details with the Hindustan Times. This proposal is for nations with the most number of international travellers.
