Vietnam, the wonderful place, has become every traveller’s dream, thanks to the blazing nightlife, gorgeous bays and thrilling carvings. In order to boost tourism, the authorities may allow visa-free entry. Vietnam is now thinking about permitting Indians to travel there without a visa, after Sri Lanka and Thailand.

According to local sources, the Vietnamese Minister of Tourism has advocated for an Indian temporary visa waiver. To try and increase tourism, Nguyen Van Hung, the Vietnamese Minister for Culture, Sports, and Tourism, has proposed a temporary waiver of visas for Chinese and Indian citizens.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over a meeting when the idea of waiving the visa was proposed. The minister recommended waivers for visitors from Australia, Canada, the US, India, and China in addition to the other 20 EU countries.

Visitors from the European Union, including those from Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, do not need to get a visa to enter Vietnam. China and India will soon be included in this list if the idea is successful. According to the information provided, 25 countries are currently eligible to travel to Vietnam without a visa. More than 10 million foreign visitors had visited Vietnam as of October 2023.

In an effort to increase tourism, Thailand has granted Indians admission without a visa. The Thai government has officially announced that Indian nationals can enter Thailand without a visa between November 10, 2023, and May 10, 2024. Indian nationals are also permitted entry without a visa for a maximum of 30 days.

Indian nationals are permitted to enter Sri Lanka until March 31, 2024, without a visa. The introduction of this flagship scheme was also intended to support the tourism sector, which suffered during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
