From political meetings between world leaders to new dessert launches that will tickle your taste buds, the GCC is always buzzing with updates. Whether you’re eyeing a weekend of indulgence at Mister Baker or just excited about the new speed limits, there’s always something new to explore in this dynamic city.

1. UAE President Meets Biden in Washington

In a significant diplomatic moment, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with US President Joe Biden at the White House, Washington DC. The two leaders shared a cordial conversation about regional and international matters of mutual interest. Beyond pleasantries, the meeting focused on strengthening the already strong strategic ties between the UAE and the United States. In a move that has left travellers in a bind, Emirates, Etihad, and even Qatar Airways have suspended flights to and from Beirut due to ongoing regional developments. If you had a trip planned, you might want to reconsider your travel plans. Etihad has announced its flights between UAE and Lebanon are off the books starting September 24, with no clear date of resumption. The same goes for Emirates, which won’t be resuming its flights until September 28. Flydubai is also on the cancellation bandwagon, halting flights on September 24 and 25. But don’t worry if you’ve already booked—flydubai is contacting passengers for rebooking or refunds.

3. New Speed Limits By Dubai RTA

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is giving speed enthusiasts something to smile about. They’ve announced an increase in the maximum speed limits on Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street. Effective September 30, 2024, drivers will be able to zip through these streets a little faster, all thanks to thorough engineering and technical studies.

RTA and Dubai Police are confident that the new speed limits will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance safety. Buckle up, Dubai, it’s going to be a smoother (and faster) ride!
