Recently, it was announced that the authorities in Fujairah have started to develop several internal roads. This is the ninth phase of the Internal Road Network Project and spans 31 km. Complete with a 77 km rainwater drainage network and two new internals, here’s all you need to know about this development.

Fujairah To Develop Several Internal Roads

With the project spanning 31 km, it covers several roads. As revealed in a report by Khaleej Times, these roads are in the areas of

  • Dibba Al Fujairah
  • Al Hail
  • Qarat
  • Qidfa
  • Wadi Al Sidr
  • Seiji
  • Thuban
  • Habhab
  • Al Qarya
  • Wadi Sahm
  • Al Farfar
  • Awhala

As it happens, a 77 km drainage network is also going to be established in the emirate. Yes, this was admitted by the Director of Fujairah Public Works and Agricultural Department.

Moreover, this project will also see two tunnels being built. One of them will come up in the Al Sharia area and will have a length of 1.2 km. And the other one will come up near Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital and will have a length of 1.4 km.

At this point, it should be noted that several other roadworks will also be taking place, and this will include a variety of things. Yes, we are talking about lighting, speed bumps, pedestrian crossings with traffic lights, and signage. As it happens, this will be happening on the Cornish, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Al Ghurfa. As a result, it’s bound to regulate traffic and public safety, for drivers is also going to be enhanced.

Emirates Road Development Also Announced

The development in Fujairah comes at a time when a 750 million budget for the upgradation of Emirates Road has been announced. On Monday, July 14, it was announced that the 25 km project will begin from the Al Badi intersection to the Umm Al Quwain Emirate. And the work is expected to begin in September 2025. Reducing travel time by a whopping 45% this project is expected to be completed in two years. As a result, motorists travelling from Ras Al Khaimah through Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah to Dubai and back are bound to save a lot of time, once the project is complete.
