1. Dodda Ganapathi Temple

One of the oldest temples in Bengaluru dedicated to the elephant-headed deity, Dodda Ganapathi Temple sits in the cosy neighbourhood of Basavanagudi. “Dodda” means big in Kannada, a fitting description of the massive 18 feet high and 16 feet monolith of Ganesha carved out of a single rock. The benne alankara or the adornment of this deity in butter, is what devotees look forward to the most at the 500-year-old temple.

2. Shri Sathya Ganapathi Temple

In 2023, the entire temple in JP Nagar was adorned with real Indian currency and notes amounting to a staggering ₹2 crore. While the notes and coins were wrapped in plastic and later returned to the donors, it was a mesmerising spectacle. There sits 108 miniature Ganesha idols beautifully decked up. Every Ganesh Chaturthi, the 108 Ganesha Temple becomes a centre for religious ceremonies performed at the community hall of the temple complex.

Visit the Maha Ganapati Temple AKA Vahana Ganapati Temple where Lord Ganesha is known to bless your vahana or vehicle. The royal family of Mysore had visited this temple 60 years ago when their vehicle broke down near the temple. After seeking blessings from Lord Ganesha their car miraculously sprung back to life. Since then, devotees flock to pray for their vehicles.
