Maharashtra is all set to welcome Lord Ganpati as Ganeshotsav 2025 approaches. With Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) as the state’s right hand, you can enjoy a fuss-free festival. This year, the MSRTC plans to deploy 5,000 additional buses for a seamless travelling experience for all devotees.
Ganeshotsav 2025: MSRTC Deploys 5,000 Extra Buses
According to OneIndia, MSRTC Chairman and Maharashtra’s Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has greatly pushed for this initiative: “The bond between Konkan, Ganpati Bappa, and ST is sacred,” they said.
MSRTC is making quick and definite progress. With last year’s record of deploying 4,300 buses, a 16% jump is to be witnessed this Ganeshotsav 2025. But this number is not a fluke; MSRTC managed to successfully deploy 5,200 buses during the festival of Ashadhi. This operational success provided them with the confidence to go bigger this Ganeshotsav.
How To Book Buses, Concessions Offered And More
Bookings for these special buses open on July 22, and passengers can secure their seats through multiple channels. Group bookings can be made via MSRTC’s official website (npublic.msrtcors.com), its mobile app, or directly at bus depots across Maharashtra. The idea is to ensure hassle-free booking options for everyone travelling to Konkan from cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar during the festive window. In a move that reflects MSRTC’s broader commitment to inclusive public service, fare concessions have also been announced.
For senior citizens registered under the Amrit scheme, MSRTC is making Ganeshotsav travel entirely free this year, offering a full fare waiver. Others won’t be left out either, regular senior citizens and women passengers are set to receive a 50% discount. It’s a conscious effort to make this annual journey back to Konkan not just easier, but also lighter on the wallet for families and elders making the trip.

MSRTC’s Larger Plan
All of this sits within a much larger shift that MSRTC is undergoing. In the past few months, the corporation has laid out plans to add 20,000 hybrid buses over the next two years, OneIndia reported. These are part of a push towards electric and intelligent fleet options that aim to modernise public transport while keeping it sustainable.
So if you’re planning to travel back to Konkan this Ganeshotsav, whether to celebrate with family or reconnect with your roots, MSRTC is making sure that journey is as seamless as possible. Group bookings open on July 22, and with large-scale fare concessions, extra buses, and repair crews working around the clock, the corporation’s effort goes beyond just moving people from one place to another. It’s about preserving a cultural rhythm, making sure that no matter how far people have moved away, traditions like Ganeshotsav still bring them home.
