Getting Too Stressed? Cut Down On Your Salt Intake, Say Experts

Salt Intake

Remember the phrase – ‘Too much of something is good for nothing’. Well, that is the case with your level of salt intake. While salt is a basic necessity and a flavour-adding substance, too much of it can ruin your dish. Likewise, it can ruin your health. Unfortunately, packaged foods like salad dressings, canned vegetables, processed cheese, cold cuts, and more have high salt or sodium content in them. The recommended amount for salt intake in adults is less than six grams per day. However, the average consumption of salt is about nine grams on a regular basis. This can lead to high blood pressure, increased heart risk, and other medical conditions related to cardiovascular health, not to mention an increase in stress levels.
