To boost connectivity, reduce travel time, and support economic growth, Uttar Pradesh is all set to get the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Green Highway Policy, will build a 380-kilometre greenfield expressway. The expressway will link key districts in the state–Noida, Ghaziabad and Kanpur–and is expected to be completed by 2026.
How Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway Will Improve Road Travel
According to Jagran, the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway will drastically improve connectivity in Uttar Pradesh by connecting nine districts in the state. The initial designs of the 380-kilometre expressway include four lanes, with the potential to expand to six lanes in the future to accommodate increasing traffic.
It is being built as a greenfield project, with an emphasis on incorporating eco-friendly infrastructure in both its construction and future operations. The upcoming expressway will significantly reduce travel time between Ghaziabad and Kanpur to five hours from the current eight.
The expressway will also act as a link to the under-construction Jewar Airport in Noida. Not just that, it will also connect National Highway 9 and the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway. It will greatly boost interstate travel as the NH-9 starts at Punjab’s Fazilka and ends at Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh. The expressway will link the two roads via Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Moradabad.
All You Need To Know About This Upcoming Project
The Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway will connect Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, and Unnao. The authorities feel that the new expressway will ease the burden on existing highways and boost regional trade. By directly linking Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur with a modern, high-speed corridor, this expressway will drive socio-economic development by benefiting daily commuters, logistics providers, and local businesses across the region.
