A lab report has confirmed that the ghee used in the preparation of the world-famous Tirupati laddoo contains animal fat and fish oil. As per the report, which has now been made public, the ghee samples collected from the temple premises contained “foreign fat.” Read on to know more about this report.

A Gujarat-based livestock laboratory report revealed that the ghee used in the making of Tirupati laddoo is adulterated with animal fats and fish oil. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu released this report and confirmed that the prasadam served at the famous Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati has animal fats in it.

This shocking report has stunned devotees all over the world. As per a CNBC TV18 report, more than 3 crore devotees visit the famous temple every year. And the laddoo served in Tirupati as prasadam is world-renowned for its taste. The presence of animal fat in the laddoos has hurt the religious sentiments of these people. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the trust that manages the famous temple has not released any statement about this report yet.

What The Lab Report Says About The Ghee

The ghee sample for Tirupati laddoo was collected by the Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock & Food (CALF). As per The Economic Times report, this lab is a multidisciplinary analytical laboratory at NDDB (National Dairy Development Board). The lab is based in Gujarat’s Anand. The report suggests that the ghee sample contained foreign fats.

As per the report, this included “palm oil, fish oil, b**f tallow, and lard” among other adulterations. These samples were collected on July 9, 2024, and the lab report was released to the authorities on July 16, 2024.
