Delta Air Lines Passenger Tries To Open Cabin Door Of Taxiing Plane; Removed From Flight

A video is making the rounds on the internet showing a Delta Air Lines passenger apparently trying to open the cabin door while the aircraft was moving on the taxiway. The flight was preparing to depart from Atlanta for Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, causing a scare among other travellers. Here’s what happened.

According to a report by NBC 5 Chicago, the passenger was seen screaming at the crew and passengers onboard a Delta Air Lines flight before attempting to open the cabin door. Reportedly, the disturbance occurred when the plane was taxiing at the Atlanta airport. The flight was scheduled to depart for Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport but was delayed due to unknown reasons.

The passenger became unruly and aggressive after the delay was announced. The video was also posted by Reddit user u/Jahaadu on the r/PublicFreakout channel. The clip showed the man speaking loudly on the phone and questioning the hours of delay.

Flight Returns To Gate To Remove The Passenger 

According to NBC 5 Chicago, the Delta Air Lines passenger then grabbed the handle of the cabin door and attempted to open it. He was able to move it slightly. The captain then announced that the aircraft would return to the gate, where the unruly passenger was removed from the flight. After following all standard safety procedures, the flight was able to depart for Chicago later that night. No injuries were reported, and everyone remained safe.

You should know that opening a cabin door while the plane is taxiing is extremely dangerous for passengers. It can also damage the aircraft, which is why the crew members took swift action.

Delta Air Lines also shared with NBC 5 Chicago that the safety of their customers and crew comes before all else, and they have zero tolerance for unruly behaviour. They also apologised to customers on the flight for the delay. The incident undoubtedly left many passengers scared during the flight.
