In a viral video shared by Última Hora Col on X (formerly Twitter), a woman can be seen breaking down in tears and pleading with Ryanair staff to let her board the flight. She even tried to squeeze her luggage to comply with the airline’s rules, at one point slamming it in an attempt to make it fit. While it seemed to have worked, the airline staff still didn’t let her board the flight. This incident took place at Sofia Vasil Levski Airport in Bulgaria.
During the boarding process, the Ryanair staff had asked the woman to pay extra for the heavy luggage, but she refused, saying it would fit in properly. When she was strictly refused boarding, the woman fell to her knees, pleaded with the airport staff and police, and even banged on a glass door, begging to be allowed in.

As per Hindustan Times, this recent incident took place just after Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary revealed that staff get $1.75 bonus for oversized bags. Defending the policy, he added that only a limited space is provided for bags on full flights. Only half of Ryanair’s passengers can carry two bags, whereas the rest can carry only one.
Passenger Who Witnessed This Incident
Hindustan Times revealed that a man named Nikolay Stefanov, who witnessed this incident, has said that, “She was begging us not to leave her. But we were told the whole flight could get cancelled if we didn’t get on the bus, so people got scared and left.” He further mentioned that the passengers were shocked to see how a woman was treated by airline staff. The airline staff showed no empathy.
Defending their action, Goldair Handling Bulgaria has stated that they acted professionally and didn’t touch the woman once.
