One of the top airlines, British Airways, has rolled out a complimentary service to assist Indian students flying from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai to London Heathrow. The airline operates only from these five locations in India. This new service is launched to make travel seamless for students, especially for those who are travelling to an international destination for the first time, according to Travel and Tour World. The “Student Travel Assistance” service includes a dedicated check-in desk, support in finding their way at the airport, and once students land at Heathrow Terminal 5, they’ll get transfer assistance as well. Reportedly, British Airways is the only airline that offers personalised services to students.

Sharing her views on the newly-launched services, Helen O’Connor, British Airways’ Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific Airport, said that the team has worked hard to make the students’ journey overseas comfortable and seamless. They will offer constant support right from the check-in point until they arrive at their destination.

Popular Destinations For Higher Education

As per the data shared by the Ministry of External Affairs as of January 2025, over 1.33 million Indian students are enrolled in international universities. The UK has emerged as a popular place for higher studies, among Indian students. The number of Indian students going to international universities is constantly rising.

Earlier this year, British Airways introduced the “Meet and Assist” service. Under this service, airport staff helped travellers and that too in local Indian languages. This made it easier for the passengers to navigate through check-in, security, and lastly, board their flights seamlessly.
