Gokhale Bridge Ready To Open In Feb? BMC Vows To Open One Side By Next Month

Gokhale Bridge, which went under construction in November 2022, is finally showing signs of completion if the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC is to be believed. According to the latest reports, the BMC has said that one of the sides of the Gokhale Bridge will be open by the end of February. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular update for the Gokhale Bridge.

BMC: One Side Of Gokhale Bridge To Be Ready By Feb End

According to an article which was recently published by The Times of India or TOI, the first girder of the Gokhale Bridge was lowered early in the morning on Tuesday, January 23. The bridge can now finally start with concreting works from January 27, as per the officials cited in the article.

The article also specified that the BMC aims to open one side of the bridge by the end of the next month, which is February. The official also said that after the positioning of the first girder, concreting, curing and painting will remain.

After all of these are complete, the BMC can finally open one side of the bridge, which is located in Andheri. The bridge has been under construction for a long time and has faced quite a lot of obstacles and delays in its completion.

About The Much-Delayed Bridge And Why It Is Taking Long

The bridge went into construction in the month of November in 2022. It hasn’t been able to meet its deadlines since. The TOI article also states that despite receiving visits by the CM, Eknath Shinde, on two separate occasions, the progress of the bridge has not picked up pace.

Even though the BMC says that one side of the bridge will begin by February, many of the residents of the area doubt it.
