For easy access between the Dwarka Sector-25 station and the India International Convention & Expo Centre (IICC) complex and central arena, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation built its longest subway. Here are the details of this construction that connects the metro station to IICC.
A 735-Metre-Long Subway Connects Dwarka Sector-25 Metro Station To IICC
There will be two entry points for the 735-metre-long subway that leads to the convention centre from the metro station. Its width is 7 metres and its height is 4 metres. According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official, the subway was built as a crucial component of the upcoming Dwarka Sector-25 metro station. The station is an extension of the Airport Express Line connecting New Delhi Railway Station to Dwarka Sector-21. And the line passes via Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
There are four lifts and eight escalators scattered throughout the tube. There are two escalators and a lift at each subway entrance and exit. The underground has a level differential as well to meet the IICC complex’s architecture. There are four escalators, a lift, and a staircase built at the level difference. An official from the metro stated that the subway will have printed glass fixed to the walls, CCTV surveillance, and a public address system for the ultimate commuter experience.

Water Transportation And Other Construction Details
According to officials, water will be transported to sumps near the entry, exit and emergency staircases by a network of covered channel drains at the subway’s floor level. At these sites, pumps with the necessary capacities have been installed in order to drain the water to the IICC drainage system.
Cut-and-cover construction was used to build the subway. The construction was an engineering difficulty because it needed careful planning and tight collaboration with the convention centre complex’s engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.
In September, the IICC complex is anticipated to open for business. IICC is slated to replace Pragati Maidan as the second-largest convention and exposition site.

With a floor area of 5,070 square metres, the IICC can accommodate 6,000 people. Seminars, conventions, and sizable displays are anticipated at the institution.
