Govt School Students In UAE To Reopen On January 3 With 2 Weeks Of E-Learning

The Ministry of Education announced that schools in UAE will resume for the next term, starting 3 January 2021. However, the ministry added that all Government schools in the UAE will continue learning online learning for the first two weeks of the term.

Only 50% Of Teachers & Administrative Staff Can Attend School

Schools will permits 50% of the staff’s capacity, as a precautionary measure. Staff members can then switch with the other 50%, while maintaining all safety precautions. It would up to each school to plan when to resume on-campus learning. The new move is done to ensure safety measures are being observed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, private school pupils across the country will return in-person classes next week. Schools are expecting a major increase in on-campus learning, starting this term. Until now, many had opted for distance learning in the previous terms. But, now the introduction of a Covid-19 vaccine has given a much-needed boost to parents’ confidence.

Negative Covid-19 Test Must For Abu Dhabi Pupils Returning To School

Abu Dhabi schools are also set for a host of changes as institutions offer in-person lessons for pupils with chronic health conditions. Students in years 7 to 9 and those between 11-14 years will return to classrooms in January, after a gap of 10 months.

As a precaution, pupils aged 12 and above must present negative Covid-19 tests before being allowed to return to classrooms in Abu Dhabi on January 3. The rules also applies to school staff and teachers. Covid-19 PCR tests will be provided free of charge on specific dates for each school, until December 31. Pupils can get tested at certain screening centres operated by Abu Dhabi’s public health operator, Seha. Those who wish to take the test must provide a valid Emirates ID and a dedicated school code at the testing centre.
