The countrywide lockdown due to COVID-19 has created an apparent rise in the demand for essential items, especially groceries. While moving out of the house is not a safe option now, going to fetch the groceries is something most of us can’t avoid. But the limited stocks in the shops get exhausted in no time and we do not get all the stuff that we require. Even in online the stores, most of the items are labelled out of stock now and those available are taking several days to get delivered. To sort out this problem, Gurgaon has come up with a smart idea.
What Is It?
A ‘Mobile Grocery Bus’ has been launched in Gurgaon to deliver all essential food items within the city during these lockdown days. People can order fruits, vegetables, biscuits, noodles, bread, atta, oil, pulses, ghee, soaps, hand washes, etc. with this new service. This mobile bus is approved by the govt. and will be loaded with everything that one might require on a daily basis.

What’s More?
Brick-and-mortar shops and online stores usually give out groceries at their M.R.P. rates. But this grocery bus will provide the necessities at a rate much cheaper than the market price. The process of availing this service is easy. One simply needs to contact the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and shoot an e-mail to rwa.covid@mcg.gov.in with the requirement list. Once ordered, the groceries will be delivered in a jiffy!

This is a great way to help citizens meet their daily needs while maintaining the concept of social distancing. We anticipate that this initiative will be soon taken up in other cities as well.
