Gurugram’s Ambience Mall Shuts Down As Roof  Collapses Due To Heavy Rain

Gurugram and parts of Delhi witnessed incessant rains since the morning of July 19, and several parts of the city were left waterlogged. Due to the heavy downpour, a portion of the roof of Gurugram’s Ambience Mall collapsed in the afternoon. According to a Hindustan Times report, a senior official of the mall said that excess water and some garbage had accumulated on the roof. The increase in weight led to water leakage and collapse. Mall authorities notified that no one was injured in the incident. Following the incident, the mall was shut from 1:30 PM on July 19. The official statement of the mall administration stated that the mall would reopen after repairs on July 20.

Excess Water And Garbage Had Accumulated On The Roof Of The Mall

The Ambience Mall is one of the most popular places among the people of Gurugram for shopping, eating out at fancy restaurants and more. The statement by the official said,  “Along with heavy rain, some garbage had accumulated on the roof, increasing the weight; leading to water leakage and collapse. It is normal for garbage to get accumulated on the roof during heavy rain.”

Management Is Getting All Electrical Circuits Checked

The official statement by the mall administration said that water leakage occurred in some parts owing to continuous rains during the night. The statement added that the management would get all electrical circuits checked completely to avoid the possibility of a short circuit. After the rains, underpasses at Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Iffco Chowk were also closed due to waterlogging.
