How Do I Get My Newborn’s Birth Certificate Through EHS?
Here’s how it actually works. You log in through the EHS website or its smart app, submit the required documents, and the certificate is issued the moment the application clears – no separate appointment and no waiting on a queue number. Authorised representatives holding a valid power of attorney can also file the application on the parents’ behalf, which matters more than it sounds like in that first foggy week after delivery, when neither parent may have the capacity to sit through a government portal.
Who Can Apply & How Much Does It Cost?
The paperwork itself is simple. Both parents need valid Emirates ID cards on hand. That’s the only real requirement standing between you and a completed certificate. On the cost side, AED65 covers the certificate itself. If you want an actual physical copy delivered rather than just the digital version, there’s an optional AED20.75 delivery fee on top.
EHS has framed the rollout as part of a broader push to move essential post-birth paperwork online, and it isn’t happening in isolation. Abu Dhabi recently introduced a similar six-minute digital turnaround for school fees certificates at AED15; EHS itself now accepts insurance across all UAE healthcare facilities rather than requiring separate approvals, and the emirate has also been moving toward using Emirates ID in place of the health card altogether. Taken together, it points to a UAE-wide pattern: strip out the in-person steps wherever the paperwork allows it, and let residents handle official documentation from their phones instead of a service counter.
