Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad disrupted normal life in the city on Thursday. Due to incessant rainfall overnight, several key areas in Hyderabad reported waterlogging, bringing traffic to a standstill. People struggled to manoeuvre around the city, especially in areas like Santosh Nagar and Champapet. Scroll on to know more about this.

Heavy Rainfall Causes Waterlogging In Hyderabad

Incessant heavy rain lashed Hyderabad from Wednesday night and the city let out a sigh of relief after a long dry spell! However, as the downpour continued, many key areas in the city witnessed waterlogging. This caused traffic to snarl in the city. According to Hindustan Times, Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams had to be deployed to clear water in areas like Santosh Nagar and Champapet.

The heaviest rainfall of 14.8 cm was recorded at the University of Hyderabad. The western part of Hyderabad, like Lingampally (11.4 cm), Ramachandrapuram (2.6 cm) and Chandanagar (10.9 cm) recorded heavy rainfall as well. As per reports, the southwest monsoon, which had stalled for nearly two weeks despite an early onset this year, is expected to pick up pace and become active again from today in this region.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Several Districts In Telangana

According to CNBC TV18, Hyderabad is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds till June 14. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow for 10 districts in Telangana until June 13. As per the forecast, heavy rain in isolated places is likely to occur in the following districts –

1. Adilabad
2. Komaram Bheem Asifabad
3. Jagtial
4. Vikarabad
5. Sangareddy
6. Mahabubnagar
7. Nagarkurnool
8. Wanaparthy
9. Narayanpet
10. Jogulamba Gadwal
