On April 20, Jammu and Kashmir was hit by cloudbursts which triggered flash floods and landslides in the Ramban district of the valley. A day later, heavy rains lashed Tripura and brought the northeastern state to a standstill. The incessant rains were accompanied by thunderstorms.

According to NDTV, while all the major rivers, including Gomati, Muhuri and Feni, are flowing below the flood level, the heavy downpour caused major damage across Tripura. As many as 445 houses were fully, partially, or severely damaged in the state. People could be seen using inflatable boats to manoeuvre along waterlogged areas where knee-deep water accumulated.

A report from the State Emergency Operation Centre indicates that the Mohanpur Sub-division was the most severely affected area, followed by Karbook in the Gomati District. In Mohanpur, 261 homes sustained damage—65 were severely damaged, while 196 were partially affected. In Karbook, 158 houses were impacted, with 26 destroyed, 83 severely damaged, and 49 partially affected. Other affected areas included the Sonamura Sub-division in the Sepahijala District, the Jirania Sub-division in the West District, and the Teliamura Sub-division in the Khowai District.
