The mountainous areas in India are prone to natural disasters. Recently, a series of shooting stone incidents took place in a few areas of the Ramban district. This has caused the suspension of traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and loss of lives. As for the Bharat Jodo Yatra, it is supposed to reach Banihal. Here are the details of this tragic accident.
Shooting Stones In The Mountains
The heavy rains triggered this incident of shooting stones at Panthiyal and Mehar. In addition to this, a few places from Banihal to Ramban have witnessed a similar incident. According to the authorities at the accident site, an oil tanker and a truck were hit by boulders causing the death of the driver. Also, two people were injured and shifted to a hospital immediately. He further added that the roads will be transport-worthy after the shooting stones stop. J&K Traffic Police has issued an advisory.

Bharat Jodo Yatra Scheduled To Pass Through Jammu-Srinagar National Highway
The Bharat Jodo Yatra is scheduled to pass through the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. However, this incident has caused a risk for the yatris. To make their movement comfortable, the traffic authorities have issued a detailed advisory for people to follow. Further, they have ensured that the area has smooth vehicular movement. Also, the area from Batti-Matra-Forest Check Post is a ‘no traffic’ and ‘no parking’ zone. People are requested to not park their vehicles during the foot march. And, until the yatra is over, no vehicles will be allowed towards Ramban.
As for the accident, people are advised to avoid travelling through the Nashiri and Banihal stretch of the national highway. However, this highway is the only linking road between the valley and the rest of the country.
