Can you imagine checking out a laboratory floating on water while being surrounded by lush plants? Sounds like something straight out of a Sci-fi movie, doesn’t it? Well, soon this might become true for Dubai as there are plans to build Dubai Reef along the Dubai Coastlines. For those who aren’t aware, it may become the world’s largest ocean restoration and eco-tourism project when it’s completed.

Dubai Reef is said to be the world’s largest ocean restoration and eco-tourism project. As it happens, URB has given a glimpse of this much-awaited project, which will feature a floating living lab for marine restoration and eco-tourism. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Well, here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming project that’s supposed to be spread over a whopping 200 square kilometres.

A project by the URB, Dubai Reef is going to be an artificial reef, which happens to be in the research and development stage at the moment. Once this is complete, it will help re-generate the city’s coastline ecosystem while also offering protection from storms. In fact, it is expected that it will create a home to over 1 billion corals and 100 million mangrove trees. As it happens, ecotourism is also a part of this project, thereby offering unique experiences in marine ecotourism.

It Will Also Feature Eco Resorts, Lodges & More!

It’s worth mentioning that there might be floating eco-lodges powered by 100 per cent renewable energy and also include wave farms to produce additional clean energy. Moreover, there will be floating eco-resorts as well as floating marine conversations for eco-tourists. In fact, it is expected that this hub will also have eco-activities, such as forest bathing. Moreover, it’s expected that it will also become home to the largest oyster farm in the region. It’s worth mentioning that this project aims at enhancing the coastal ecosystem of Dubai!

Doesn’t it all sound fantastic? We can totally imagine how amazing it’s going to look when it is completed!
