If you have been planning to apply for a visa to China from the UAE, the process is now more streamlined. This comes with the launch of a new online application system. Yes, the application systems have been launched by both the Chinese Consulate in Dubai and the Chinese Embassy in the UAE. Here’s all about the process that makes it easier for travellers.
What Does The Update On China Visa Application Service Centre Mean?
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has officially launched its online visa application service on June 30. Yes, the Embassy in the UAE launched it on this date, and it was then followed by the Chinese Consulate in Dubai on July 14. So, through the update on the China Visa Application Service Centre, applicants can submit their completed forms and necessary materials online. Yes, in case you weren’t aware, this is the entity which handles the administrative task of processing visa applications for China. Through the launch of this service, the initial paperwork burden has been eliminated.
Online Application Process
However, there are important things to note, such as how one can apply for the visa through the Dubai Chinese Visa Application Service Centre. Well, this new procedure has the following steps for online submission.
- You need to visit the website and create your account or sign in. Once you have selected your location as Dubai, you must complete the online visa application. Every applicant except those from Hong Kong and Macau SAR visa must complete the application form.
- After this, you must upload the clear scans of required documents, a recent passport-size photo, supporting documents (these will be relevant to your visa type, and the passport biodata page.
- Once all the necessary upload is done, click on the submit button. However, it’s worth noting that currently the option for online payment is unavailable, so the fees will be paid at the Visa Centre.

What To Do After Online Application Is Approved?
When your online review is done, the status will change to approved on the application, which means you have passed the initial review (otherwise it will state’Rejected’). After this, you will receive a confirmation email with the Visa application certificate and you will have to print this certificate.
- Once you have received the online approval and the visa application certificate, you do not require an appointment for the next step. All you need to do is visit the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Dubai and bring along the following documents:
- The printed Visa Application Certificate, along with a signed copy of the online visa application form
- Original, valid passport and any previous passports. Applicants who have multiple nationalities should bring the original, valid passports.
- Two recent passport-sized photographs (in case the uploaded photo was called unsuitable).
- If you were a Chinese national and this is your first Chinese visa, bring the original of your previous Chinese passport.
- Printouts of all the other documents, which had been uploaded online.
