Here’s How Indians In UAE Can Apply For Fine Waiver

Earlier, the UAE government announced that people whose visas have expired before March 1 can leave the country without penalties until August. The scheme began on 18 May and will now run until 17 August. This means, all overstay fines will be waived off, provided violators leave the country. On 22 July, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi announced that Indians who wish to waive off the fines must submit an application to the Indian diplomatic missions. The mission urged all Indians to avail of this opportunity in order to leave the country without paying any fines. Click here to download the form.

Those intending to travel must submit the application at least seven days ahead of the possible travel date. The new scheme is applicable for both residence and visit visa holders. Indian nationals residing in Abu Dhabi must coordinate with the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi. Those residing in Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman, can reach out to the Consulate General of India in Dubai. How To Apply?

1. Individuals applying for an amnesty must send an application in the format available on the Consulate and Embassy website.

2. Individuals must also mail passport details, local contact number, visa copy etc, along with the supporting documents to ca.abudhabi@mea.gov.in (for Abu Dhabi cases) and cons2.dubai@mea.gov.in (for Dubai and Northern Emirates Cases).

3. All these documents must be sent at least seven working days before the intended date of travel to India.

4.  Those who are unable to mail, can drop their applications in the drop boxes outside the Embassy and Consulate.

5. In case of visit visa, a copy of the visa should also be enclosed.

What Happens After Submitting The Documents?

1. The documents will be forwarded to the concerned UAE authorities and you will be notified via mail or call once the application is approved.

2. The application takes  at-least five working days to be processed, after which the applicant must leave the country at the earliest possible.

Other Guidelines You Must Be Aware Of

1. All individuals applying for the waiver must have valid travel documents to India, such as the passport.

2. Those who do not have a document can approach the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Indian Consulate in Dubai for issuance of a passport or an emergency travel certificate (EC).

3. Once the EC is issued, the passport will automatically be cancelled and you will have to apply for a fresh passport on arrival in India.
