Brigadier Ahmed Juma Al Khaili, Director of the Police Follow-up and Aftercare Department, confirmed that drivers with 8 to 23 black points can visit the department’s platform at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) to benefit from this service. For those on the edge with a suspended licence (hello, 24 black points!), there’s hope. Lieutenant Colonel Nahyan Mohammed Bin Zaytoun Al Muhairi, Head of the Black Points Programmes Section, explained that drivers can apply to transfer black points to their licences through the Tamm app or by visiting customer happiness centres.
Once that’s sorted, drivers need to visit Counter 7 at the exhibition’s weapons wing, pay Dhs800 to reduce black points, and Dhs2,400 to recover their suspended licence. The next stop? A scheduled course at 4 pm at the Knowledge Centre’s auditorium, located near Gate 5.
Reviving Roads With Responsible Drivers
This initiative highlights Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to safer roads by offering drivers a second chance. It’s not just about reducing black points; it’s about encouraging responsible driving and ensuring that everyone on the road has learned from their past mistakes.
In essence, this scheme allows drivers to redeem themselves while simultaneously promoting better driving habits. As Abu Dhabi continues to prioritise road safety, this initiative is a step forward in educating and rehabilitating drivers rather than punishing them.
