Here’s Why Women Should NOT Stop Working After Marriage

Working Women

Honestly speaking, whether to work or not is a woman’s completely personal choice and probably has nothing to do with her marital status. However, in our society, it is believed that working post-marriage means that a girl is not a family-oriented girl, instead, she is a self-oriented career woman. Keeping all judgements at bay, here are a few reasons why I think women should continue working even after marriage (if that’s what their heart desires).

1. It Gives You A Sense Of Liberation

If the husband is rich, the wife doesn’t need to work is so 1950s. Working is often associated with earning money. However, it’s not just about making money, it’s also about empowerment, independence and that sense of liberation.

2. You’re More Than Just Someone’s Surname

Women should always work and follow their passion even after marriage. It gives us a sense of freedom, helps with our confidence and makes us realise that we are much more than just someone’s surname.

3. It Makes You Creative

It keeps your mind occupied, and you are often bursting with creative ideas instead of worrying about what happened with domestic help at home. Working, kind of, gives you a sense of purpose.

4. It Gives You A Proper Routine

Working also gives you a routine to follow. Routine gives dedicated time for work, family and self-growth. You can learn better time management and problem-solving skills.

5. It Makes You Grow As A Person

The sense of identity you get helps you grow as a person and makes you realise that no relationship can ever ground you. It makes you feel that you have the capability to run a household while ruling the world.

I agree not everyone is of this mindset, but the thought of calling something your own- my job, my work, my life, my income- isn’t that feeling amazing?

P.S. All due respect to women who choose to stay at home. This takes a different level of hard work & commitment!
