HH Sheikh Mohammed Approves AED 2 Billion For A New Dubai Road Project

Motorists frequenting the Dubai- Al Ain highway are in for some good news. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has granted AED 2 billion for the betterment of the highway.

What’s It?

The project aims to boost safety and ease congestion on the key road that connects Dubai and Al Ain. The project will see an increase in the number of lanes from three to six, addition of bridges and extra service roads. Further, the route will also boast an increased vehicle capacity of 12,000 vehicles per hour, easing transit time between Emirates Road interchange and Oud Metha Street.

Besides, four ramps will also be constructed to aid traffic flow in all four directions. The first half of the project is expected to be completed by the first half of 2020.

Mattar Al Tayer, director general of RTA said: “The improvement scheme will serve several development projects on both sides of the Dubai-Al Ain Road such as Meydan, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubailand Residential Complex, Liwan and Dubai Design District.”

The second phase of the project is estimated at AED 748 million and extends from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road up to the interchange of Bu Kadra and Ras Al Khor Street.
