Himachal Pradesh Floods: Cloud Burst Leaves 1 Dead & 3 Injured 

Himachal Pradesh is ravaged by floods. In an unfortunate situation, a cloud burst in Kias village in Kullu, killed one person and left three injured. Two villages in Himachal Pradesh were struck by a cloud burst. The weather office has even issued an orange alert for Himachal Pradesh’s four districts, alerting them of heavy rainfall.

According to a report by India Today, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP-headquarter) Rajesh Thakur revealed that nine vehicles were damaged in the region due to the heavy rainfall. A man Badal Sharma who was a resident of Chansari village in Kullu tragically lost his life due to the cloud burst. Three people were injured, out of which two of them are in serious conditions.

Rajesh Thakur further added to India Today that local authorities quickly carried forward rescue operations and even deployed machinery to clear road blockages which could hamper the rescue operations. The Meteorological Department of Himachal Pradesh further issued an orange alert warning residents of heavy rainfall in isolated regions in the state.

Apart from Himachal Pradesh, the state of Uttarakhand could also witness heavy rainfall on July 17, tweeted the MeT department. Neighbourhoods of Kullu, Shimla, Kangra, Chamba and Sirmaour could witness heavy rainfalls (115.6 to 204.4 mm) till July 17.

Himachal Pradesh is ravaged by heavy rainfall which has led to widespread destruction in the state. So far, the cloudburst, floods and landslides have claimed 118 lives so far. The state has tragically faced a whopping ₹8000 crore loss due to the rainfall. Amit Shah has approved ₹180 crores to be given to the flood-hit state State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

With mobile phone services, electricity and water temporarily restored, this is a sigh of relief for residents at flood-hit areas. Efforts are being taken place to restore other essential services.

IMD Issues Rain Alert In These States

Moreover, India Meteorological Department (IMD) alerts in certain states for heavy to very heavy rainfall.  The list includes Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
