Mumbai Witnesses Floods With First Rain

Mumbai finally witnessed its first proper rainfall of 2023 on Saturday, June 24. But the heavy rainfall faced by the city caused waterlogging in many parts of the city. Even after BMC’s pre-monsoon work claims, several places like Sion Road 24, Andheri Subway, Dahisar Subway, Tilak Nagar, and Dadar TT Circle saw waterlogging.

In just a matter of four hours, from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, the city saw rainfall that crossed the 100mm mark, according to the BMC’s automatic weather station. On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for the city, but as the intensity of the rain increased, the alert was changed to orange.

As ever, places were flooded because of the rain, and social media was flooded with pictures and videos from netizens. These videos and pictures included everything from subways getting waterlogged to rainfall in the railway station.
