The important road connecting Kalka in Haryana and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh faced a major landslide recently and the consequences look a bit scary. The calamity struck the Kalka-Shimla four-lane National Highway 5 and affected it badly. The unfortunate incident took place in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. As a result, the crucial highway is now at a pause from any transportation.

July was unimaginably scary for this area and nearby places. Tourism suffered a major blow because of the poor weather conditions and the aftermath. Following continuous days of major downpours in these cities, the situation just began to improve. People just began hoping to revive the tourism sector and economy in the hill station and the landslide on the Kalka-Shimla road blew all the plans for now.

Shimla attracts a lot of tourists throughout the year and the economy is also dependent on tourism. In between all such unfortunate calamities, many people are uncertain about making plans to visit this hill station. The road got damaged badly leading to a closure for a couple of days.
Keeping in mind such damages, the tourist footfall in the upcoming months may see a blow. Many travellers visiting by road from nearby areas are pausing plans. The fear of chances of landslides is the reason behind postponing journeys, according to a report by Hindustan Times. All the shopkeepers, accommodation owners, eateries, and businesses depending on tourists are majorly concerned.
