Holi celebrations can involve large crowds, intoxicated people, and over-excitement. It can sometimes lead to unwanted situations. But don’t worry! With these essential safety tips, you can safely enjoy Holi:

1. Choose The Right Place

It is important to pick a safe and organised Holi event rather than roaming in unknown streets. You can choose from well-known celebrations in Mathura, Vrindavan, or Jaipur. It is also essential to make sure to stay in groups.

2. Dress Smartly

To protect yourself from harsh chemical colours from random crowds, it is better to wear dark-coloured, full-sleeved clothes. Cotton is best because it dries quickly and remains comfortable.

3. Carry A Small, Secure Bag

Avoid celebrating without your essentials. You must carry a waterproof bag to keep some cash, an ID card, a fully charged phone, and emergency contact information.

4. Use Natural Colours & Protect Your Skin

Synthetic colours can be harmful to the skin and hair. Apply coconut oil or a thick moisturiser on your skin and hair before heading out. Try to carry your own organic colours to avoid harmful chemicals.

5. Travel In Groups

If you are celebrating Holi in a different city, it is best to go with trusted friends. Being in a group will definitely add a layer of safety and will help avoid unwanted interactions.

6. Set Boundaries And Be Firm

Unfortunately, some people use Holi as an excuse to cross boundaries. If someone makes you uncomfortable, speak up loudly and confidently.

7. Avoid Alcohol From Unknown Sources

Bhang or other alcoholic drinks are common elements at many Holi celebrations. If you want to try it, do so only in a trusted environment. Make sure to never accept drinks from strangers.

8. A Meeting Point & Stay Connected

Large Holi crowds can be overwhelming, and getting separated from your group is common. Have a pre-decided meeting spot in case someone gets lost.

9. Be Cautious With Public Transport

If you’re in a major Holi destination, taxis and rickshaws can be hard to find. It is preferable to book your transport in advance.

10. Have Fun, But Stay Aware

Let go, enjoy the colours, and dance your heart out. However, it is also important to always be mindful of your surroundings.
