Hot Air Balloon Crash In Turkey Leaves 19 Injured & 1 Dead

In another heartbreaking incident, there was a hot air balloon crash in Turkey. This happened on Sunday, June 15, resulting in the death of the pilot and 19 Indonesian tourists were injured. Here’s what happened

Hot Air Balloon Crashes In Turkey

As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, this accident happened due to a sudden shift in the wind. The hot air balloon was then forced into a hard landing near the village of Gozlukuyu, Aksaray Province. However, upon landing, the pilot fell out of the basket, which led to him getting tangled in the rope and getting trapped under the basket. Tourists who were aboard the hot air balloon were also injured and were later promptly rushed to the nearby hospital.

Another Incident Happened In Ilhara Valley

In a video circulating on social media, the hot air balloon was seen lying deflated on the side with emergency teams attending to the victims. These rides are regarded as one of the most famous activities in Turkey, especially around Cappadocia. A place that’s renowned for its fairy chimney rock formations, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, this wasn’t the only incident reported in the same news; the state media mentioned another hot balloon facing a hard landing. This happened in the Ilhara Valley location, 12 Indian tourists were slightly injured.

Safety Of Such Rides

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that such hot balloon crashes have happened previously as well. Back in 2022, two Spanish tourists died after a hard landing in Cappadocia. Such incidents highlight the ongoing safety concerns of these hot air balloons, and now, authorities have launched investigations, trying to determine the cause of such crashes.
