Khajuraho is one of the most historically significant places in India and as such, it has great potential for tourism. The Khajuraho Airport or HJR provides limited connectivity; however, it is vital for tourism in the region. IndiGo recently launched a new flight route that connects Varanasi to Delhi via Khajuraho which, it is hoped, will boost tourism in the region. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about reaching Khajuraho by air.
How To Reach Khajuraho By Air? Direct And Indirect Flights
As of now, it seems that there are only two airlines that provide direct flights to and from the Khajuraho Airport. They are IndiGo and SpiceJet. IndiGo has direct flights that connect Khajuraho to the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport or the LBSIA in Varanasi.
SpiceJet, on the other hand, connects the Indira Gandhi International Airport or IGIA in Delhi to Khajuraho. When it comes to non-direct flights, however, there are a lot more options to choose from. Apart from the recently launched Varanasi-Khajuraho-Delhi IndiGo flight, the airline also has flights from Delhi to Khajuraho via Varanasi.

Why Air Connectivity To This Historic Region Matters
The Khajuraho group of monuments is one of India’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As such, it serves as an important thread in the cultural tapestry of Indian architecture. Not only is it an indelible testimony to India’s progressive past, but it is also a testament to ancient India’s architectural genius.
As such, providing better, more frequent flight connections will not only highlight this important part of Indian history and architecture but will also boost tourism in the region and aid the local economy.
