The Khajuraho Dance Festival is held annually in February against the backdrop of the stunning Khajuraho temple. From Bharatanatyam to Kathak, Odissi to Kuchipudi, the festival showcases a kaleidoscope of performances. What sets the Khajuraho Dance Festival apart is its unique amalgamation of history, spirituality, and artistic excellence. The performances transport the audience to a realm where myth, legend, and devotion intertwine seamlessly. The temples of Khajuraho, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provide a majestic setting. Moreover, the festival is a melting pot of cultural exchange, attracting renowned dancers, choreographers, and scholars from across the globe.

Commencing in 1975, the festival is annually organised in Khajuraho by the Culture Department in association with the Madhya Pradesh Patan Department, the Archaeological Survey of India, and Ustad Alauddin’s Music and Art Academy, Bhopal. This festival will run till February 25th on the massive Muktakashi stage located within the Western Temple Group Complex, between the Kandariya Mahadev Temple of the Chandel era and the Devi Jagdamba Temple. Several classical dances will be performed during the festival.

For this edition, Khajuraho made an entry into the Guinness World Records during the Kathak Kumbh. Over 1484 people showcased their talent at the same time in the historic Khajuraho temples, breaking the previous record of 1204 people.
