In a shocking incident, an Indian passenger flying from the UAE to Lucknow with IndiGo slammed the airline for cancelling his flight post-boarding. He claimed the fliers weren’t informed, were left stranded in the airport for hours with children and the elderly feeling distressed about the happenings. Here’s his experience.
Man Shares IndiGo Flight Got Cancelled, Leaving Fliers Stranded For 9 Hrs In UAE
Taking to his LinkedIn handle, UAE-based Vinay Mall threw light about a harrowing flying experience with his family on June 23. The man was flying on the IndiGo flight 6E 1424 flying from Sharjah to Lucknow. After boarding the flight and sitting in the aircraft for about an hour, the passengers were asked to disembark. The pilot announced that the Lucknow-bound flight was cancelled as crew duty hours exceeded limits. Passengers weren’t given any clarity on the matter.
After over 180 passengers returned to Sharjah Airport, Vinay claims people were still clueless about the next steps. Over 180 passengers were stranded at the Ras Al Khaimah International Airport for over 9.5. That’s because the next flight to Lucknow was at 11:30 am, which was later delayed to 12:30 pm. There were no amenities in the airport for the passengers to rest, with the elderly and children suffering the most. Moreover, Vinay Mall revealed that some parents tried to make their children lie down on the floor. But airport security disallowed this.

He Questioned Lack Of Clarification & Customer Service Amenities
Vinay Mall further claimed in his LinkedIn post that only eight out of 180 people received lounge access. Their family with a 2.5-year-old and an 8-year-old child didn’t receive any support. They didn’t receive water either. The man questioned DGCA and IndiGo why flights were being scheduled without making way for crew shift limits. He questioned the lack of customer service amenities and the passenger assistance team. Mall ended the post demanding answers and slamming the airline and its staff for treating “human beings like cargo.”
IndiGo apologised to Vinay for the inconvenience caused in the comments section of his post. The airline stressed that the cancellation was due to operational reasons, and passengers were provided refreshments to ease the wait. But Netizens were enraged with the happenings and called it “disappointing” and demanded that Indian flights improve their infrastructure and schedule.
