Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of a recently conducted inspection at Sri Sri Holistic Hospital’s canteen. During the inspection, the task force team found several hygiene lapses in the canteen that are quite concerning.
To begin with, the team observed rat faeces on the shelves inside the store. They believe it could be a sign of possible rat infestation. They also discovered a live cockroach infestation inside the store room of the canteen. To further highlight this issue, the canteen was unable to provide proper ‘Pest Control & Medical Fitness’ certificates to the team during this inspection.
While the water analysis reports and food testing reports were available at the canteen, the food inspection team observed that the FSSAI licence’s true copy was not displayed at the premises. One of the few good things found in Hyderabad’s Sri Sri Holistic Hospital’s Canteen was that the staff was wearing hair caps and aprons in the kitchen.
Inspection Followed A Complaint Against The Canteen
As per an NDTV report, the inspection at Hyderabad’s Sri Sri Holistic Hospital’s canteen took place following a complaint filed with the food safety department. Besides the possible rat and cockroach infestation, the team also found expired food articles like masala powder, brown sugar, paprika powder, dark chocolate compound, and filter coffee. The team discarded the expired food articles immediately.
Another major hygiene lapse observed by the team was around the grinding area of the canteen. According to the Commissioner of Food Safety’s post, the area was “unhygienic and loose plastering flakes were observed on the ceiling inside kitchen premises.”
There is no update on what actions were taken against Hyderabad’s Sri Sri Holistic Hospital’s canteen so far.
