Hyderabad Witnessed Zero Shadow Day

The unusual celestial occurrence known as “Zero Shadow Day” occurred around 12:23 pm on Tuesday in Hyderabad. This happens when the sun is directly overhead directly and doesn’t cast any shadows on vertical objects.

A phenomenon called “Zero Shadow Day” happens twice a year. In this case, the Sun is directly overhead, leaving the Earth’s surface without any shadows.

On Zero Shadow Days, the sun is higher in the sky, which causes the shadow to be shorter in length. The phrase “Zero Shadow” refers to the fact that when we stand, our own shadow is rendered invisible.

Between Tropic Of Cancer And Capricorn

The Sun’s declination will be equal to a person’s latitude twice for those who live between +23.5 and -23.5 degrees latitude: once during Uttarayan and once during Dakshinayan.

According to the Astronomical Society of India, the Sun will be directly overhead at noon on these two days and won’t cast a shadow on anything on the ground.

Astrophysicist Debiprosad Duari explained the phenomenon to PTI, stating that people and objects everywhere who are between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn twice a year shed their shadows, however briefly. (As per NDTV)
