The pandemic has been extremely harsh on everyone, especially the daily wage workers. After the COVID-19 lockdown, a large number of families involved in daily wage activities got deprived of their sources of income. While several organisations and individuals came forward to lend a helping hand to these labourers, many have fought back the challenges on their own. Mamidipelly Rachana, daughter of a daily wage labourer from Warangal district of Telangana, turned into a food delivery executive for Zomato in Hyderabad to support her family amid the tough times of the pandemic. She Woke Up At 4 AM To Distribute Milk While Studying In Hyderabad
After passing out from a government school, Rachana got admission to a diploma course in Hotel Management in Hyderabad. While she was pursuing her studies in Hyderabad, side by side, she also used to deliver milk door-to-door to manage her expenses and also support her family. She used to get up early at 4 AM to distribute milk. After that, she went to attend the classes.

According to a report by NDTV Food, Rachana has said that she used to earn ₹9000 at the end of the month. She used to pay ₹3000 as room rent. The rest of the money she used to send back to her family, keeping just ₹1000 for groceries. Obviously, it was hard for her to survive in the city with only that much amount.

Turning Into A Delivery Executive Amid Lockdown
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit India, Rachana took up the food delivery job to lend more financial support to her family. By taking up a job that is usually done by men, Rachana is breaking stereotypes. Now, with the money earned, she is managing everything all by herself, from her family and studies to all other expenses. In future, she aims to undergo training after completing her Hotel Management course to get a permanent job. According to the NDTV Food report, Rachana has said, “I did this all for myself and to make sure my parents have a better life.”
