For a very special and memorable Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, was invited by entrepreneur and actor Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana Konidela, to their palatial home in Hyderabad. Over a lavish 8-course spread, Upasana Konidela revealed all about the filmy family’s 4-hour lunch ritual, the family secret Chiranjeevi Dosa recipe and of course, RRR star, Ram Charan’s favourite food in the world.

Ram Charan’s Favourite Food Is Rasam Rice With Omelette

Having travelled on a culinary journey across five courses of heilroom recipes, with Upasana Konidela, introduced Kamiya Jani to the sixth course — her husband, Ram Charan’s absolute favourite. Simple Rasam Rice with Omelette. “This is Ram’s most favourite course. It’s his comfort food and go-to food for everything. He just loves rasam, rasam, rasam,” the doting wife reveals.

Surprising Kamiya, she adds that sometimes the actor blends the ingredients and sips rasam like soup. “He needs an omelette with it to make it authentic. This food travels with him everywhere. You give him fresh rasam, hot rice and an omelette, and he is in heaven.” His go-to omelette order usually has masala, green chillies and onions. Upasana tells Kamiya that the dish is great for winters as it’s good for the throat. Moreover, the omelette is a protein component of the meal. Making it a whole, rounded comfort dish. No wonder Ram Charan can never have enough of it!

Upasana Konidela Shared All About Being Part Of A Film Family

The poised and gracious Upasana spoke about her love story with Ram Charan, revealed what it is to be a star wife, part of a filmy family and the values that shape her personal life. She treated Kamiya to traditional delights from Athamma’s Kitchen. Of course, wouldn’t let her leave without a frothy cup of filter coffee where coffee beans are sourced from a secret place, only known to the film family. Her entrepreneurial vision and her passion for conserving and celebrating family recipes are admirable.
